In a recent discussion with the Angels, the Sunday confusion and lack of Angels games being free as promised from their official website (angelsbaseball.com) which was to offer a link to stream the game, caused fans to panic as MLB.com game day audio was charging would be listeners, causing an uproar.
After speaking with Tim Mead (Vice President of Media Relations) he said that “this was not the fault of the club, but is certainly an issue and problem that the club wants eliminated”.
The free log-on for internet Spring Training broadcasts was not working on Sunday. Also, on Friday and Saturday people did not know how to log in because the only two options listed were “buy now” and “current subscribers click here”.
The Angels would like a dedicated landing page with information on how to log in for free. The instructions need to be simple, keeping in mind that this may be the first time anyone has ever used Game Day Audio.
The Angels would also like to have a yellow strip across the top of the Club Promo Area that reads: ” Listen to Spring Training Here” and have it link to the new landing page.
Stay tuned for more updates regarding this concern at www.Angelswin.com. Rest assured, the Angels are on top of this and seek to resolve this for fans, real soon.
Edit: a few hours after my conversation with Tim Mead, they rearranged schedules with AM 830 Radio so that spring training games will be played LIVE off the KMXE on March 10th (next Monday’s game). Games until then will be provided for free off the Angels website.
The Angels jumped on this quick considering they purchased the radio station 2 years ago and had to fill daytime slots with radio figures that attracted listeners until their contract with KSPN was up, thus initially conflicting ST games with the programs already under daytime contracts.
