The expected aftermath of a poor 7-9 season is the lack of accolades that follow. Sadly only one Saint has made it in the final list of the NFL Top 100 Players of 2015. That player is of course Drew Brees coming in at 30. It’s worth noting that Jimmy Graham was 31, just one spot behind Brees, though he’s now a Seahawk.
The quarterbacks listed ahead of Brees were Aaron Rodgers (#2), Tom Brady (#3), Peyton Manning (#5), Andrew Luck (#7), Russell Wilson (#22) and Ben Roethlisberger (#26). That means the NFL players who vote on these rankings view Brees as the 7th best quarterback in the NFL currently. I’ll let you voice your own opinions on that in the comments below. From my perspective this solidifies the absurdity and lack of credence in this annual list.
For context, Brees wasted rated on Pro Football Focus as the second best quarterback in 2014 behind only Aaron Rodgers. The QBs listed ahead of him in the NFL top 100 were ranked 3rd (Roethlisberger), 4th (Brady), 9th (Luck), 10th (Manning) and 13th (Wilson). If nothing else that’s an interesting comparison.
Does any other Saint below on this list in your opinion?
