If you’ve followed the St. Louis Blues during the preseason and training camp, the news regarding Joel Edmundson and Colton Parayko won’t come as a surprise. Both players are expected to be in the opening night roster as the Blues completed their final wave of cuts, sending Magnus Paajarvi, Ty Rattie, Chris Butler and Petteri Lindbohm to the AHL.
Edmundson may have been the most surprised.
Edmundson was stopped by Armstrong as players were leaving the rink in Ann Arbor. Figured his chances were 60-40 he was AHL-bound. (1/2)

Edmundson "When he called me over I didn't know what to expect. He just told me 'Congratulations' and shook my hand. I was speechless" (2/2)

The moves are certainly surprising from a Ken Hitchcock coached team. Instead of opting for the experience from Butler or to a lesser degree in Lindbohm, the Blues are looking to two youngsters.
These two defensemen join forward Robby Fabbri on the opening night roster. The Blues are going to have a whole new look to start the season and it’s loaded with talent from within the organization.
