Florida State remained the top-ranked team in America in both polls on Sunday after the Seminoles were sluggish in the second half of an easy 37-12 victory over The Citadel on Saturday night. While Florida State remained atop both polls, Oregon made significant gains in the AP Poll.
Following a 46-27 win over seventh-ranked Michigan State, Oregon jumped Alabama in the AP Poll to move into the second slot. The Ducks also garnered 16 of a possible 60 first place votes while the Seminoles earned 38. In two weeks, Florida State has lost one-third of its first place votes from the preseason. Behind FSU and Oregon in the AP Poll are Alabama, Oklahoma and Auburn.
In the Amway Coaches Poll, Florida State took a much smaller hit as it managed to receive 51 of a possible 62 first place votes — a six-vote drop from last week.
Despite a charge in the AP Poll, Oregon remained fourth in the Coaches while Alabama and Oklahoma remained second and third between FSU and Oregon. As was the case in the AP Poll, Auburn rounded out the top 5.
Florida State will not play this week before hosting Clemson in its ACC opener on September 20th. The Tigers currently rank 23rd in the AP Poll and 24th in the Coaches.
