Trey Williams is a 5-8, 170-lb. running back from Houston, Texas. He’s fast, shifty and has great vision, with talent you can’t help but compare to LaMichael James.
The comparison is a great compliment, but Williams is likely to create a legacy of his own, and with a little luck it could be at Oregon. Until recently he was all set to go to home-state Texas A&M, but the Aggies recently fired head coach Mike Sherman, and that has the 4/5-star prospect reconsidering his options. Duck coaches recently made a visit to see him, and Williams has declared his intention to take his trips, to TCU, Arkansas, Oklahoma State, and Oregon.

Quick to the hole and decisive, his stats are amazing: over 4200 yards and 38 touchdowns in his sophomore and junior years, he achieved over 1100 yards and 14 touchdowns in the first 5 games of his senior year, leading a team that was 12-2 and headed deep into the Texas State playoffs.
Williams has a rare burst and uncanny vision, running with tremendous power and determination. He’s a hard worker who’s likely to get stronger and even more effective as he transitions to the college game.
It’s incredible to think of him taking carries in the Oregon offense, and in the highlight clips, he shows good hands out of the backfield also. He’d be a great fit, and Chip Kelly and Gary Campbell would do a terrific job of teaching and developing his skills. But five of the top schools in the country are in the running. His recruitment will be a highlight film all its own.
