Orioles Sign 40-Year-Old Tomo Ohka

It’s been a long time since Tomo Ohka has pitched in the Major Leagues. Thursday, the Baltimore Orioles signed the 40-year-old.

Before heading back to Japan, the righty last pitched in 2009 for the Cleveland Indians. Consider this, the last time dude pitched in the bigs…current Orioles star (and Ohka’s potential teammate) Manny Machado was trying to figure out who to take to Homecoming.

It’s true.

This isn’t the first time Ohka, a converted knuckleballer, tried to make a comeback. In 2014, he went to spring training with the Toronto Blue Jays. He’d end up in the Atlantic League pitching for Bridgeport. This past season, Ohka had a 2.82 ERA in 16 games for the Fukushima Hopes of the Baseball Challenge League.
