They're apparently looking to trade for Vince Carter.
The talks have reached a point that a deal could be done by the end of the day Thursday, according to sources.
The
trade would give the Magic even more star power on their quest to win
an NBA championship. The addition of Carter to a lineup that already
consists of All-Star players Dwight Howard, Rashard Lewis and Jameer Nelson would make them the favorites to win the Eastern Conference title next year.
I like how ESPN just declares things like that. I beg to differ. Vince Carter has never made anything better. He's poison. Yes, talent-wise he's be an improvement over Rafer Alston and Tony Battie. But I think Courtney Lee has shown that he has balls… which is something VC can't say.
Vince will dominate the ball and hinder that offense. He'll lessen Nelson's and Lewis' impact on the team. This isn't like the Celtics putting egos aside, watching their stats drop a little, and jelling for the good of the team. Vince Carter isn't that guy. Vince has ruined any promising situation he's been a part of.
The Magic need to do something to upgrade their team, but Vince Carter isn't it. Now… as a Celtics fan… I'd love to watch one of our main competitors implode. But I'm sure as hell not going to sit here and pretend like that's a good deal for Orlando.
