Sometimes hometown favorites may think that a last minute call to another fighter might be an easy win, and I am not completely sure if this was the case, but Oscar Mojica (5-0, 1KO) from Dallas, Texas took the fight on short notice against Joel Garcia (7-3, 1KO) from El Paso, Texas because he knows he is one of the best at 115lbs.  Mojica is a dedicated fighter, who trains year round, and because of this, he was in fight shape before he even got the call.

The Co-Main event fight went the full six rounds and Mojica was claimed the winner in a split decision.  NTF caught up with Mojica after the fight and when asked how he felt when he was announced the winner, not surprisingly, he said “I felt relieved because I thought they might give it to the hometown guy.”  Mojica went on to say “I landed a big right hand on him and wobbled him in the middle of the second round.”  Garcia, a game fighter, was able to escape the devastating punch and made it to the next round.

Mojica also told NTF that “I landed the best punches in every round,” and that he felt his opponent was slowing down in the fourth.  He went on to say that his corner kept telling him to keep the pressure on, because they knew he was fighting in front of Garcia’s hometown fans.  Mojica remains undefeated and is one of the most talented young boxers from Dallas, Texas.  He trains out of the Ring of Hope Boxing Gym in Dallas, and he is expected to be on the upcoming CKO4 boxing card.  Fight fans, keep an eye out for this young fighter from Dallas, Texas.  Mojica finished by sending out a special thanks to all his family, friends and fans for all their support.
