Angels at the 2016 Oscars

MikeMartian

The 2016 Oscars are upon us, which means it’s time to spend way too much time on Photoshop thinking up absurd ways to make the Best Picture nominees Angels and/or baseball related.

Last year I was somehow able to come up with team-specific ideas for all nine nominees. (Sadly, the Internet swallowed that post.) This year, because of a time crunch, it’s only five. As always, the terrible Photoshops are my doing and the synopses are the handiwork of Andrew Karcher.

The Martian tells the inspiring story of Mike Trout, the alien/brilliant baseball player who was stranded on second base for an entire summer. As summer turns to autumn, will any of his teammates be able to drive Trout home in time for the playoffs? Co-starring Albert Pujols, Kole Calhoun, and Jessica Chastain as team commander Mike Scioscia.

Andrelton

Seeking to reach the postseason in the near future, Andrelton Simmons journeys to Anaheim to become Angels’ new shortstop. Simmons must find himself and his batting stroke if he’s going to thrive in his new land. But the Braves have other ideas, assigning Garrett Wilson to lead the campaign to woo Simmons back home.

Revenant

The Revenant

The Angels left Mike Napoli for dead in the cold Canadian wilderness of Toronto. They made a grave mistake: Napoli’s career wasn’t actually dead. Based on true events, The Revenant chronicles Napoli’s search for revenge as he heads west and lays waste to Angel pitchers.
