Russell Wilson won over the hearts and minds of Badger nation in just one game in the Cardinal and White, what occurred over the next thirteen games was just icing on the cake of what many consider the single best season by any quarterback to wear a Badger uniform.
His play caught the eye of not only Badger nation, but now a lot of fans, coaches, and fellow players in the NFL as his rookie season was a big time success for the Seattle Seahawks. However, on Thursday morning a 2013 Heisman Trophy favorite and former rival, Braxton Miller, admitted to being a huge fan of the ex-Badger.
"I like Russell Wilson a lot," said Miller. "How mellow he is and just how he delivers himself when he walks on the field and how he handles himself. I watch him all the time."
Miller sees inspiration in how his story has developed from N.C. State to Wisconsin and now proving doubters wrong again at the NFL level.
"It's just crazy how he came from Wisconsin and how he overcame the doubters about how short he was," Miller said. "He's great to me, so that's the guy I look at (in the NFL)."
No doubt that is high praise considering the game that was played between the two in Miller's freshman season and the rivalry between Wisconsin and Ohio State. That rivalry isn't just some wishful thinking of Badger nation either, it's something the Buckeyes have even acknowledged.
"Absolutely," said Buckeyes left taclke Jake Mewhort when asked about this game becoming a rivalry over hist time at OSU. "Wisconsin is such a tough, good team and Ohio State's always good, you know it's developed into a little bit of a rivalry. It's a really fun game to play in and a really physical one too. I'm really looking forward to playing that one, especially under the lights."
One thing is for sure, that game on September 28th is sure to have massive significance in the final season of divison play between these two schools and could only add to the growing legend of games between the rivals.
