I was asked by Rob Vollman — author of Hockey Abstract, a writer for ESPN Insider, Hockey Prospectus, Bleacher Report, and also a frequent guest on The 6th Sens’ podcast — to help promote a hockey analytics conference/workshop at Carleton University on Saturday, February 7th, 2015.
Although the exact room and time details are unavailable at this time, there is no fee attached to the event, donations will be accepted to help cover the cost of refreshments. Attendees are asked to register prior to the event by inputting their information here.
There have been similar successfully held events in Calgary and Pittsburgh, so it should make for a fun day of hockey discussion and analysis. There will also be a social component of the day that allows for some networking.
The program and other specific details have not been finalized yet, but you can keep checking their official website for more information as it breaks. You can also follow along using the hashtag #OTTanalytics on Twitter.
Some speakers confirmed for the event include:
- Tom Awad, Hockey Abstract
- Michael Schuckers, St. Lawrence University and Statistical Sports Consulting LLC
- Andrew Thomas, University of Florida and war-on-ice.com
- Sam Ventura, Carnegie Mellon University and war-on-ice.com
- Rob Vollman, Hockey Abstract
- Josh Weissbock, CanucksArmy.com and CHLStats.com
Hope to see some of you there.
