The Pac-12 Championship game has officially been set as the Arizona State Sundevils clinched their spot in the game after a 38-33 victory over UCLA.
The Sundevils will take on Pac-12 powerhouse Stanford who clinched their own spot in the title game after Oregon lost their second conference game Saturday night to the Arizona Wildcats pummeled the Ducks 42-16. Stanford, on Saturday night ran over the University of California 63-13.
The Sundevils had a challenge in their own as they took on UCLA in a game that went down to the wire but ASU was able to pull out the victory 38-33. Arizona State’s 62-41 win over USC in what was Lane Kiffin‘s last game as the head coach of the USC Trojans paid off as, since the loss to ASU, USC has won five of the last six games with the only loss coming against Notre Dame in a game that was plagued by special teams mistakes by the Trojans, USC would finish a game short of being in the Pac-12 Championship game.
However, that is the past and the future is now what each team has to focus on. Stanford still has one more challenge before the Pac-12 championship game and that will come against Notre Dame next weekend. Arizona State will also face the Arizona Wildcats next weekend before taking on Stanford.
Stanford(9-2) and Arizona State(9-2) met earlier this season in Palo Alto which was dominated by Stanford in the first half as the Cardinals took a 29-0 lead before Arizona State tried to make a comeback in the second half but came up short losing 42-28. Arizona State’s only other loss came Notre Dame on October 5th. Stanford’s two losses were upset losses to Utah and USC.
