Pacers come from behind to dump Heat in Granger’s return to Indy

It wasn’t been an easy season thus far, but the Indiana Pacers finished 2014 on a high note, coming from behind to down the Miami Heat , 106-95. The Pacers end 2014 with a 12-21 record, keeping them at 10th in the East and 2.5 games out of the playoff race.

The game also marked the return of Danny Granger to Bankers Life Fieldhouse, this time as a member of the visiting team. Granger, who admitted it was “strange” to be playing out of the visitors’ locker room, played well, scoring 14 points on 6-9 shooting off the bench.

For the Pacers, it was once again a collective effort. CJ Miles led the way with 25 points, while George Hill had 20, including a spectacular block on a Chris Andersen dunk at one end that led to a coast-to-coast throwdown on the Birdman at the other.

CJ Watson added 11, while David West and Roy Hibbert chipped in with 10 apiece.

As expected, Wade and Bosh led the Heat with 20 and 18 points, respectively.

It was a nice win for the Pacers after their last-second loss to the Bulls the other night and falling down by as much as 11 to kick off the third quarter tonight. Instead of giving up, however, the Pacers battled back, turning a double-digit deficit into an 8-point lead heading into the fourth. The Heat would not get closer than 6 the rest of the way.

The Pacers’ first game of 2015 will be against the surprising Bucks in Milwaukee. Under the guidance of new coach Jason Kidd, the Bucks have shocked everything this year by keeping their record at 0.500 or above for most of the season.
