Pacers fall to Cavs, snap 3-game win streak

Let’s stop pretending we didn’t see this happening. Bruised thigh or not, the Cavs are easily the frontrunners in the East, and the Pacers are still trying to figure out who they are. And with both CJ Miles and Rodney Stuckey missing with ankle injuries, it’s not a surprise to see them fall in a 101-97 loss in Cleveland.

The loss puts the Pacers at 3-4, which is frighteningly not too shabby in the East.

What I liked about the game:

– Paul George continues to look impressive. Following up from his 36-point performance the other night, he racked up 32 tonight on an efficient 11-21 from the field, grabbed 11 rebounds and dished out 6 assists while playing solid defense.

– Monta Ellis had his best game as a Pacer with a season high 25, 5 and 3 on 10-17 shooting. Much needed as it seemed as though he was losing confidence in his game. Hopefully this is just a sign of things to come.

– Good to see Myles Turner (6 points in 18 minutes) and Glenn Robinson III (2 points in 13 minutes) get playing time.

What I didn’t like:

– George Hill missing all five of his three-point attempts, but sometimes it just happens.

– Jordan Hill putting up 15 shots (hitting just 3). I liked the 7 offensive boards, but the dude just needs to be able to finish.

– Likewise, Lavoy Allen needs to learn how to hit open shots. He missed all five attempts from the field today to finish with zero points in 25 minutes. I like the hustle and rebounding, but he’s been a huge liability on the offensive end so far this season, costing the Pacers valuable points with at least a couple of misses each game that all NBA players ought to make with their eyes closed.

The Pacers next host Orlando on Tuesday.
