It’s not a good day for Pacman Jones and his fans. Multiple sources are reporting that the Titans cornerback is facing three charges in connection with a Las Vegas strip club altercation.
In a Monday afternoon press conference, Las Vegas police said they are recommending to the district attorney a felony charge of coercion and misdemeanor charges of battery and threat to life. Charges have not yet been filed in a triple shooting, which occured after the incident.
The manager of the strip club has accused Pacman of being an acquaintance of the gunman, saying the shooter arrived with Pacman, sat at his table, and then left the club with him before the shooting occured outside the club. It’s my understanding that if true, he could possibly face charges as an accomplice.
Pacman is already facing a felony charge of obstruction of a police officer in Georgia and is under a court order in Murfreesboro, Tennessee to stay out of trouble in order to have disorderly conduct and public drunkenness cases dismissed.
He is also facing disciplinary action from the NFL for his failure to report two Georgia arrests last year, a violation of the league’s personal conduct policy.
The Titans released the following statement following the news from Las Vegas:
The club is deeply disturbed that the alleged conduct of one of its players has resulted in felony charges in one state and accusations of felony conduct in another state. Since the NFL is preparing to introduce a new player conduct policy and since criminal charges and investigations are in progress, comment or speculation would be inappropriate. The club is currently reviewing its options with respect to the player.
Prior to this news, at the NFL meetings in Phoenix, Jeff Fisher told the New York Daily News that a decision will be made on Pacman’s status “by the end of the week.”
“Immediate or long-term or a combination of both. I can’t comment. At this point, there’s too much information forthcoming over the next week or so. The difficult part is there is a lot of information we have been unable to obtain to this point.”
