Titans cornerback Adam “Pacman” Jones has notified NFL commissioner Roger Goodell he is withdrawing his appeal of his season-long suspension.
Jones’ agent Michael Huyghue issued the following statement on Jones’ behalf:
“I understand my responsibilities to my teammates, the Titans and my fans and I am committed to turning my life around and being a positive member of the NFL.
“Last week, I asked for an opportunity to meet privately with commissioner Goodell. I met with him earlier today to tell him about the steps I have taken to change my life since being suspended by the NFL. I accept the discipline that’s been imposed on me and I am withdrawing my appeal.”
Jones has been questioned, linked to or arrested in at least 10 police incidents since signing with the Titans two years ago, prompting Goodell’s action. Goodell still has the option of reducing the suspension to ten games if Jones meets all the criteria in the suspension.
Regarding the steps he plans on taking to change his life, I didn’t see anything in Jones’ statement different from his prior ones. I wonder if he means it this time or if he will regress to his previous pattern of behavior.
I’m beginning to wonder if Pacman will ever wear the two-tone blue again. The Titans are fortunate to have signed veteran cornerbacks Nick Harper and Kelly Herndon during the offseason.
I hope that for Pacman’s sake, he will be successful in turning his life around. He has the possibilities of an incredible future ahead of him on the field and a very dangerous one off of it.
