Lightning rookie forward Ondrej Palat won his second consecutive (No award was handed out in February, due to the Olympic break) NHL Rookie of the Month Award today. He led all rookies with 18 points in 16 games during the Month of March. Palat scored at least a point in nine games including a five game point streak from March 8 through March 17. He edged Calgary Flames center Joe Colborne (11 points in 16 games), Anaheim Ducks left wing Patrick Maroon (11 points in 14 games), Florida Panthers center Nick Bjugstad (11 points in 17 games) and Tampa Bay teammate Tyler Johnson (10 points in 16 games) for the award. Palat joins San Jose Sharks forward Tomas Hertl (October), Nashville Predators goalie Marek Mazanec (November), and Los Angeles Kings goalie Martin Jones and Chicago Blackhawks goalie Antti Raanta (December co-winners) as recipients of the award this season.
