In the new baseball polls this week, Baseball America has Coastal Carolina is 10th, Clemson 12th and USC 14th. In Collegiate Baseball, Clemson is 6th, Coastal is 11th and USC is 18th.  SC is No. 23 in the USA Today/ESPN coaches poll, while Clemson is #5 and CC is #13.

Baseball America has Virginia as its top team and Collegiate baseball has Arizona State ranked number one.

South Carolina is now 16-4 on the year including a 3-0 mark in the Southeastern Conference. South Carolina owns a 10-game winning streak, the longest winning streak since Carolina won its first 10 games to start the 2005 season.

Also of note is:

USC pitcher Tyler Webb  was named the SEC freshman of the week.  The honor is given for his performance in earning his first career victory in the 4-0 win over Tennessee Sunday.  In this game 1 hit was allowed by the USC pitching staff.

USC’s next game:

The Gamecocks will take their 10 game winning streak on the road tonight as they will take on Georgia Southern.  Game will start at 7:00 in Statesboro. South Carolina owns a 84-48 career record against Georgia Southern including a 2-1 victory in 10 innings last season in Columbia. This is Carolina’s first trip to Statesboro since head coach Ray Tanner’s first season in 1997, when the Gamecocks defeated Georgia Southern 16-6.
