It’s official, Jonathan Papelbon is no longer a member of the Red Sox. Pap signed a 4 year deal with a 5th year option with the Phillies worth close to $50 million. The Sox now have to decide if they will go with Bard or obtain a new closer via trade or the free agent market.
Papelbon has spent his entire major league career in Boston beginning in 2005. He has a career ERA of 2.33 and 219 saves with the Red Sox and was on the mound for the last out in the 2007 World Series.
