According to L’Equipe, Tony Parker is on his way back to San Antonio for medical testing. We originally reported on Saturday that Parker suffered a mild ankle sprain against Austria.
According to a rough translation of the report, Parker was asked to return by Spurs brass so team doctors could test him, even though the inital MRI done in France showed only a mild sprain. Upon getting the request, an additional MRI was performed which confirmed the original diagnosis.
Parker reportedly said he did not understand the decision by the Spurs, especially after all of the testing, but would follow the orders of the Spurs and hopes to return back to his French team soon to compete in the qualifying games.
The Spurs are likely taking precautions to make sure one of their franchise players is indeed just suffering a mild injury and that he gets any necessary treatment.
This will probably keep Parker out for France’s game against Italy, which he originally set as his projected return game to the French National Team after recovery.
