According to Johnny Ludden of the San Antonio Express-News, Tony Parker will start against the Dallas Mavericks in tonight’s season opener.
Parker rolled his right ankle in drills on Monday and although test results came back negative, he was questionable to play for tonight’s game at the American Airline’s Center.
“He wants to play, so I’m going to let him play,” Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said. “If I don’t think he’s as well as he thinks he is, then I’ll just pull him. But he wants to go, so we’ll let him go.”
Notes:
The Spurs vs. Mavericks game will start at 7 p.m. CST and will be nationally televised on TNT.
Devean George (stomach illness) and DJ Mbenga (strained tendon in left foot) are out for the Mavs and Jackie Butler and Eric Williams are on the inactive list for the Spurs.
The Spurs have not lost a season opener in Tim Duncan’s nine seasons in the NBA.
