FINALLY, the NHL has done something right by nominating Patrice Bergeron for the Selke. For those unaware of what the Selke Trophy is, here’s the Wikipedia definition: The Frank J. Selke Trophy is awarded annually to the National Hockey League forward who demonstrates the most skill in the defensive component of the game.
It seems like every year Patrice Bergeron is snubbed for this award while Pavel Datsyuk is constantly nominated. The current “holder” of the award is Ryan Kesler, which is weird because I didn’t know diving was part of playing defense.
This years nominees are Bergeron, Pavel Datsyuk and David Backes. Three players worthy of the nomination, but we all know that Bergeron should finally walk away with this award. But who knows cause he’s a fucking goonbot.
