Title Updated- Welcome Patrick!
When it rains, it pours, and just hours after Ohio State received it’s tenth commitment in the 2012 class, OH OL/DL Patrick Elflein has indicated that he will become the 11th member sometime tomorrow (he will make the short trip to campus and commit in person).
Elflein, who hails from Pickerington North High School in central Ohio, did not hesitate to let his intentions be known once he received the offer he had been waiting for from Ohio State.
Like all of the recent commitments, you have to love Patrick’s drive and desire to be a Buckeye. You can’t teach heart, and you know that Patrick as well as all of the other new Buckeyes over the past several months have a commitment to the team and school that some other recruits clearly lack.
In addition to wanting to be a Buckeye, Elflein also happens to be a dominant and explosive player in the trenches. Whether lined up on offense or defense, he is extremely quick off the line of scrimmage and his motor never stops.
As cross town rivals, Patrick has plenty of experience going up against fellow 2012 Buckeye Jacoby Boren, and Elflein’s desire to prove that he is better than Boren this season may have been what pushed the Ohio State staff to offer a scholarship.
Elflein isn’t the highest rated prospect on the board, but he clearly has the drive and desire to be great. Like former under rated Buckeye recruits A.J. Hawk, Nick Mangold, Malcolm Jenkins, James Laurinaitis and many others, Patrick will have the opportunity to prove that recruiting rankings are meaningless when you put in the work at Ohio State.

Welcome to the the Ohio State family, Patrick, we can’t wait to see what you can do!
