The Blues haven’t officially started training for the 2015-16 season, but they are already dealing with a serious injury. Patrik Berglund will have shoulder surgery after suffering an injury while preparing for the new season. Berglund’s recovery time could vary, but he’s expected to be re-evaluated in four months.
Berglund originally injured this same shoulder back during the 2013-14 season (a dislocation).
This news surfaces not long after the Blues agreed to a professional tryout with Scott Gomez. At the time, it sounded like a solid depth addition. Now, it’s clear the Blues are finding a few options to fill in for Berglund while he’s on the shelf. The re-evaluation would likely take place in December or early January, which means the Blues will need some additional help at center for a good chunk of the season.
