Patriots Training Camp Day 14: Derek Rivers Leaves Practice With Left Leg Injury

It was probably the most intense practice of the summer at the Greenbrier as it involved a lot of hitting and even some chirping for both teams. The big story coming out of camp today was that injury of Derek Rivers.

The Patriots rookie was drafted in the 3rd round, 83rd overall in this year’s draft. He was doing kickoff coverage today and went down with a left leg injury. He was clearly in a lot of pain and was down for some time before slowing getting up and walking off the field under his own power with trainer Jim Whalen.

This is dangerous for the Patriots as without Derek River the Patriots are down to only a handful of healthy Only healthy defensive ends Flowers, Ealy, Grissom, Kidder and Butler.

Stephon Gilmore also fully participated in practice today after sitting out Tuesday. LaAdrian Waddle and LeShun Daniels were absent today after getting injured yesterday.

Brady was 14 of 24. Another 60-yard touchdown to Hogan, a 20-yard touchdown to Cooks. Garoppolo was 7 of 15. Missed his final four throws.

It was a much better day for the Patriots offense compared to yesterday as the offensive line looked much better and gave all the quarterback time in the pocket to let the play develop. yesterday they had no time at all as the offensive line was letting them walk right in.

Injuries are starting to pile up for the Patriots but all-in-all the team still is in good shape as day 3 of joint practices with the Texas will be tomorrow.
