At 4pm et today, the Patriots had to meet the deadline of trimming the once 90 man roster down to 75 guys, and for any coach, it’s the worst part of the job.
The whole Patriots trade fiasco with C Bryan Stork was at the center of football attention a few days back as the Pats were originally going to cut him definitely from the squad but the reports were falsely identified as Stork was packing the bags to join the Redskins but a physical Stork needed to take in order to clear the trade backfired from Washington medical officials and the trade was waived off. And as the reports first said, Belichick and company were going to cut Stork and they eventually did today.
Along with Stork, the other players who got the boot were DT Terrance Knighton, aka Pot Roast to some, was a coveted free agent that could be a useful player to any team but in this instance, we realized that Pot Roast maybe just wasn’t the right fit with us. Along with Knighton, veteran speedster linebacker Ramon Humber got the boot and OL Keavon Milton, who was a 3rd year player out of Louisiana- Monroe eyeing a chance to get reps during the season. Finally, rookie tight end out of Vanderbilt Steven Scheu got the boot. At Vanderbilt, Scheu collected over 80 catches, 900 yards and 7 scores during his four years with the Commondores.
The 53 man roster slim down is rapidly coming up so more cuts will be made throught that time so keep up with who the prospects are!
