ESPN’s A. Feldman tweeted this pic today of *gulp* former current Celtic (until 7/10) Paul Pierce at the World Series of Poker in Vegas. Notice he’s rocking the ’08 Celtics bling. And according to CardPlayer.com, Truth is doing pretty well:
Professional basketball player Paul Pierce was sparring with professional poker players on Saturday in Las Vegas — and was actually doing quite well.
Pierce made the trip to the 2013 World Series of Poker and entered the $10,000 buy-in pot-limit Omaha championship, an event which always draws the best of the best.
At around 5 p.m. local time on Saturday, Piece had a stack of nearly 250,000, which put him as one of the top 10 stacks with 143 left.
On one hand, Piece turned a straight flush on a board reading 10 7 4 6, and he crippled an opponent. Some in the room were considering the hand a slowroll because Pierce thought about the call briefly with the A 3 5 3.
You can keep track of how Pierce is doing via CardPlayer.com. Here’s a short interview from their YouTube page. Looks to me like Paul’s just enjoying a final weekend off before the official announcement/presser/media madness next week:
