The rankings are out this week and UConn has dropped out of the USA Today Poll and to 25th in the AP Poll. They also dropped 11 spots in the BCS Standings to 24th.
I am surprised to have seen them drop out of the USA Today Poll although they are the first of the teams receiving votes. They are still tied for first in the Big East yet are technically not ranked in that poll while Cincinnati leapfrogged them into the top 25. Cincinnati has lost to Pittsburgh and Louisville this season, both teams UConn has beaten. UConn has lot to Virginia, who is ranked in the top 25 in all 3 polls and Cincinnati. According to CBSSports.com Top 120, UConn has the 44th strongest schedule in Div. 1 while Cincinnati has the 34th strongest schedule. The team tied with UConn atop the Big East, West Virginia, has the 66th strongest schedule yet is ranked in top 6 in all three of the polls.
UConn remains atop the Big East standings although they are now tied with West Virginia with 1 loss. West Virginia has one less conference game played and finishes out their season with a game against Pittsburgh in early December. West Virginia plays at Cincinnati this weekend. UConn finishes up with Syracuse this weekend and West Virginia the following weekend. They still control their own destiny as far as the BCS bowls go as if they win out their last two games, they would win the tiebreaker with West Virginia.
