SOX & Dawgs - Paw Prints

The rankings are out and the Huskies have moved up five spots to #20 in the AP Poll and returns to USA Today Poll at #21 after falling out last week. They were the top team receiving votes last week though in the USA Today Poll. They also moved up four spots in the BCS standings from #24 to #20.

I don’t know if anyone saw the field at Rentschler yesterday but it was in horrible condition. It was like they held a concert there and didn’t do anything to the turf. I think it’s time for the management staff at the Rent and the UConn athletic officials to start thinking about installing FieldTurf at the stadium. It would be a lot better for them in the long run.

The Huskies stand a top the Big East with only one loss. The only other team with one loss is West Virginia, who has played one less game. The Mountaineers still have to face Pittsburgh in the first week of December. This weekend’s game between West Virginia and UConn is for the Big East Championship and a BCS berth. It’s simple folks. If UConn wins, they get the BCS berth. If West Virginia wins and then beats Pittsburgh in the Backyard Brawl, they are the Big East champs and get the BCS berth. Since West Virginia is #3 in the BCS, they may also get a shot at the National Championship if they win the Big East.
