It’s fun watching baseball like this.
The Cardinals are 9-1 in the last 10 and according to the ESPN playoff odds, have a 97.8% chance to be playing in Major League Baseball’s post-season tournament.
Shelby Miller recorded his second win in succession to even his record at 9-9. Even better? He has pitched 14 innings in those games and given up 0 runs.
Matt Adams launched a 3 run home run in the 9th inning to alleviate concern that his muscle strain had zapped all his power. Another good sign for a team that’s been separating from the NL Central al la Secretariat.
Sitting at 80 wins, the Cardinals have moved on from focusing on the NL Central race and are looking to make a strong push for the best record in the NL. With 18 games remaining the Cardinals trail the Nationals by 3 games and the Dodgers by 2.
They play neither the last three weeks of the season.
For now, though, the Cards are just looking to beat the guys in front of them. And the next game can’t come soon enough for everyone following this team.
