When Pedey went down last night with a foul ball of his foot, it looked bad. It looked worse to see him have to be helped off the field and down the steps to the clubhouse. Hearing reports that Pedey was on crutches and couldn’t put any weight on it…gulp. Hearing that he was taken out of the park on a cart….gulp…gulp.
So, it didn’t look good. Like Pedey…I was praying the swelling was going to go down and that after a few days of healing and rest, he could be back in there…but alas, he is headed to the DL.
Here is the official word on the injury courtesy of Extra Bases:
Dustin Pedroia had a CT scan and MRI this morning and doctors discovered a non-displaced fracture of the navicular mid-foot bone in his left foot. He was placed on the disabled list.
Angel Sanchez has been called up from Pawtucket to give the Sox some help in the infield. Pedey will have more tests done on Monday back in Boston…and as for now, they don’t have a time table for his return. It doesn’t even sound like we truly know how bad it is right now.
The words Sox and injuries could go hand in hand this year:
Dice-K just came off the DL
Beckett on the DL
Ells on the DL
Hermida on the DL
Mikey on the DL
Cameron still not ready for day to day play
Drew still not game ready
Youk with back spasms and a achey elbow
Our team is beat up for sure….but we won’t let that mean we are beat down. We’re just gonna need someone else to carry the Laser Show torch until we get our little bite size team leader back.
Pedey…get better….heal up…and soon!
