In February of 1981, on stage at the Groundlings theater in Los Angeles, Paul Reubens breathed life into the character of Pee Wee Herman.
He would eventually take his act to the Roxy theater and end up starring in two movies based on the character (Pee Wee’s Big Adventure and Big Top Pee Wee) as well as his own Saturday morning show (Pee Wee’s Playhouse).
On Oct. 29th Paul Reubens made an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and had some news about the long dormant character of Pee Wee Herman. An official announcement was intended to be made next week, but Reubens decided to reveal that America’s favorite man-child will again be donning his famous red bow tie in a NEW Pee Wee Herman movie.
Reubens has confirmed the three-year-old rumors that the movie will be produced by Judd Apatow, but there is no word as of yet on who will be directing.
This writer is personally very happy about to hear this and I am currently geeking out in a big way over the news. Some of you may think I’m silly or stupid for feeling this way. I’ve got just one thing to say to you – “I know you are, but what am I?”
