The New York Rangers (44-19-7) lost to the Pittsburgh Penguins (43-21-5) by the score of 5-2, tonight. For a boxscore and recap go to Yahoo! Sports.
…i guess Sather was right, the Pens with Crosby are the best team in the NHL. That is, when the Rangers aren’t playing with the best goaltender in the NHL, one of the most complete forwards in the NHL and their best offensive defenseman. Got to put it in perspective Rangers fans.
…i know this is very remedial, but the game came down to the Penguins being able to bury their chances and the Rangers not. Didn’t help that Fleury was on his game.
…the Run DMC line continues to be “Tricky” for opponents.
…McDonagh’s struggles tonight must have put a smile on Bob Gainey’s face for the first time since the Gomez trade.
…with Callahan being out, this was the perfect opportunity for Dubinsky to step up. And as has been the case all season, Rangers fans were once again left disappointed.
…while I don’t pin this loss entirely on Biron, he has to have that fourth goal. Was a back breaker. Not sure the Rangers win even with Lundqvist in there though.
…absolute momentum killing double minor on Bickel.
…good thing for Boyle that Wolski isn’t on the team any more as I’m sure he needed the tub after this one.
…when the Rangers are getting absolutely no secondary scoring, Zuccarello has to get more than seven minutes.
…Girardi-Staal tonight not exactly Girardi-Staal of last year.
…Mitchell’s going to be seeing Fleury in his sleep.
…off tomorrow then Avalanche in town for a little St. Paddy’s Day match-up.
