Penn State boosts secondary depth with new commits for 2015 and 2016

While I was out and about today, Penn State added a pair of recruits — one to the Class of 2015 and another to the Class fo 2016 — to pad the depth in the defensive secondary. John Petrishen was first on the board today…

It was expected Petrishen would decide where he will go before National Signing Day (this coming Wednesday), and the recent decision to cancel a trip to Virginia appeared to be good news for Penn State. Penn State was in a battle with Pittsburgh for the western PA recruit. Petrishen visited both schools in the previous two weeks, but Penn State got the last official visit, which tends to be a good sign. His addition is a solid one, but Penn State received more good news today as well.

Hill will be part of the Class of 2016 as long as Penn State can keep that commitment for the next year. The four-star prospect out of Michigan helps Penn State maintain a presence in another Big Ten state, which is always good. 247 Sports ranks Hill the fourth-best recruit in Michigan and the 12th top cornerback in 2016.

I will get a chance to update the scholarship breakdowns on Monday, but here is what things looked like prior to today. You can also see Penn State is still holding firm to the Big Ten’s second-ranked class in 2015 according to 247 Sports.
