Penn State defensive end dismissed

The following statement was released Tuesday night by Penn State’s football office.

Penn State freshman defensive end Shawn Oakman has been dismissed from the football team due to a violation of team rules.

OK then. I guess we’ll know more shortly.

UPDATE: A week ago, on February 21, Oakman tweeted about getting tested for steroids. At this time there is no confirmation that these two items are related, although it does seem fairly suspicious that this sequence of events unfolded.

Again, we will wait for further word.
