Penn State will attend satellite camps in some key recruiting areas this summer
Last week the NCAA decided to show some common sense and reverse a decision previously made by the Division 1 council that banned satellite camps effective immediately. With schools once again free to participate in satellite camps, Penn State once again got in on the fun as they have done each of the past two years under head coach James Franklin. It was announced yesterday by popular football camp program SoundMind SoundBody where Penn State staff will be found this summer. They will be seen working at camps in Atlanta and Tampa down south in addition to Detroit and Washington D.C.

the stop in Atlanta will be the first on the tour with the camp being held June 3 and 4. From there it will be on to Detroit on June 9-10 and immediately down to Tampa on June 11-12. The final leg of the tour comes in Washington D.C. on June 23-24. This is all in addition to previous summer camp plans on the schedule, including a visit to Old Dominion on June 16. Michigan and Maryland will also be making stops at Old Dominion, as well as Virginia and Syracuse.

You have to love how these ACC schools are jumping in on the satellite camp fun now, right? The same with the SEC, Big 12 and Pac-12. But it makes too much sense not to want to be involved in something like this. Yes, it sure as heck is a benefit to the student-athletes who can evaluate more options in their recruiting process, but it helps coaches go out and do their jobs as well and maybe even catch a player they would have typically missed.
