Penn State got some very good news Saturday evening as their top recruiting target in the 2017 cycle gave his pledge to James Franklin and the Nittany Lions.
Lamont Wade, a corner back from Clairton, Pennsylvania, chose the Nittany Lions over Pitt, UCLA, Tennessee, and West Virginia. Wade is a 4 star and the number 50 player in the nation and number 5 cornerback in the country and number 2 player in the state according to 247 Sports. Wade is ranked much higher by Rivals as he is a 5 star and their number 9 overall player in the country. Nevertheless the rankings, Penn State is getting one fantastic player.
Wade checks in a 5’9 190 pounds and held 23 offers that included Alabama, Ohio State, and Michigan. He plays to enroll early at Penn State.
Lamont Wade announced his decision at his commitment/ graduation party Saturday night in front of scores of family and friends. He faked everyone out by first grabbing the UCLA hat before putting it down and putting on his blue Nittany Lions hat.
Wade said Penn State’s success on the field along with his relationships with the Penn State coaches, especially corners coach Terry Smith, who was his lead recruiter and is from the same area as the high school standout.

Wade is a special talent who dominated both sides of the ball in high school, rushing for over 7,000 yards in his career and he now holds the state touchdown record at 121, and has the ability to continue this dominance in college.
Wade will most likely play in the nickel next year or he might play safety if Marcus Allen leaves for the draft. Wade will be an explosive punt and kick returner and should play some offense.
James Franklin should be really happy about this one as Penn State is getting a great player.
The 2017 class now ranks 13th nationally as Wade is the 18th commit in the class.
