The Penn State Nittany Lions football program was dealt two tough blows on Monday as it was announced they will lose seniors Ryan Keiser and Zach Zwinak for the remainder of the season.

Keiser, a senior cornerback/safety was kept out Saturday’s game against Ohio State with an undisclosed injury following a “freak accident” during a practice on Friday. The injury unfortunately will finish Keiser’s career at Penn State, one that saw him start as a special teams player but turn into a very good defensive player as well. For his career, Keiser will finish with 48 tackles and four interceptions.

Zwinak, also a senior injured his left leg on the opening kickoff Saturday which saw the senior running back get carted off the field. Zwinak has been an inspirational story. The former fifth string running back had become a primary force in the Nittany Lions offense over his career.

In 2012, Zwinak finished the season with 1,000 yards and 6 touchdowns before rushing for 989 yards and 12 touchdowns last season. The 2014 season had been a struggle for Zwinak as the senior was only able to gather up 112 yards on 40 attempts over five games. For his career, Zwinak will finish with 2,108 rushing yards along with 21 touchdowns.
