Penn State Recruiting: The Day Before the Storm

-2

Today, February 2nd, is the day before National Signing day, it is also James Franklin’s birthday, let’s see if he got any presents.

Sunday

On Sunday, 3 star DT Antonio Shelton committed to Penn State while still on a visit to Happy Valley. Shelton helps replace the void left by Michael Dwumfour.

Monday

Franklin’s recent offers have been paying off. Dae’lun Darien, a Temple commit, visited Penn State this weekend and made the call Monday morning. Darien is a 6’4 205 receiver from Baltimore.

Monday night wasn’t so great.

3 star committed athlete Aaron Mathews flipped his commitment from the Lions to Pittsburgh. He was given the opportunity to play reciever at Pitt which wasn’t available at Penn State.

Moments later, 4 star corner back Damar Hamlin committed to Pitt over Penn State and Ohio State.

Today

The day started slow, but this afternoon 3 star JUCO DT Tyrrell Chavis committed to Franklin on his birthday. Chavis has two years of eligibility remaining and is 6’4 320. He fills a void left by Austin Johnson that the Lions desperately needed to fill. Chavis helps buy time for Penn State to develop its young defensive linemen on the team.

<<Update>> (10:57 PM)

Earlier tonight Penn State did offer 3 star CB Anthony Johnson and he has committed to Penn State and is the 20th member of the 2016 class.

Tomorrow

Penn State is in the running for multiple players tomorrow.

They include:

4 star LB Brendan Ferns

4 star CB Lavert Hill

3 star DE Rashad Weaver

3 star WR Dredrick Snelson

Penn State may also look to offer a few more players tonight and see how things play out. I’m especially looking for an offer for 3 star CB Anthony Johnson who visited this past weekend and is very high on the Lions.

I’m also on decommit watch for 4 star safety Andrew Pryts and 3 star DE Shaka Toney.

Updates will follow through out until tomorrow night.
