We now know that Penn State(7-5) will head down to Jacksonville, Florida to take on SEC program the Georgia Bulldogs(9-3) in the Taxslayer Bowl. The game will be held on January 2nd at noon at EverBank Stadium, home of the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Penn State is headed to its second straight bowl game after the post season ban was lifted last September. They beat Boston College in the Pinstripe Bowl last December. Georgia is coming off three straight losses to end the season and fired its head coach Mark Richt. This past week they hired Alabama defensive coordinator Kirby Smart as their next head coach. Smart will not coach the bowl game, interm coach Bryan McClendon will.
This will only be the second overall meeting between the two programs. The only other time was the 1983 national championship game which Penn State won 27-23.
