Penn State has yet to confirm the news as of this posting, but the University of Buffalo did not mind sharing the news that they will be making a trip to Beaver Stadium in 2015.

The game will reportedly be played on September 12, 2015. The Nittany Lions are scheduled to play in Philadelphia the following week against Temple and there is a home game against Rutgers that has yet to receiver a formal date, but is supposed to be played that season. Penn State plays at Rutgers in 2014 in the front-end of a home-and-home contract with the Scarlet Knights. NationalChamps.net though lists that home Rutgers game for September 12 as well, so either that date is inaccurate or something needs to be changed with Rutgers. Rutgers does not have a set schedule for other games at this moment, that we know of.
For Penn State, having Buffalo on the schedule could mean the 2015 schedule is essentially filled. That is, if the Big Ten opts to go with a nine-game conference schedule in future seasons. During a recent meeting of Big Ten leaders the idea was tossed around but there does not seem to be any possibility of a nine-game schedule taking effect until at least 2017. If so, then there is room for one more game on the schedule and given the names already listed, it would be nice to see Penn State announce a deal to play a team people may actually get excited about.
Say, BYU?
The BYU rumors were floating around a lot the past 48 hours as BYU held their official football media day in Provo Tuesday. BYU fans were anxious to hear news about more future opponents as they begin life as an independent, and Penn State was one of the hot names on the Internet. Needless to say, some Penn State fans were keeping a close eye on the BYU media day but no word of new future opponents was released by BYU, although they said mid-western schools “were listening.” Is Penn State considered a mid-western school? No way.
BYU personnel talked a number of times about schools they would like to see scheduled and were not shy about naming names. Ohio State, Michigan, Notre Dame, Texas, Alabama and Florida were among the names mentioend. Penn State was not mentioned once all day. Is that a sign that there is no interest, or are people keeping mum on the situation?
Only time will tell. For now, get fired up about playing another MAC program.
