Pete Rose Absolutely Kills It on Radio Show

Someone get this guy a podcast.  Now.

Earlier this week, on the eve of the Major League All-Star Game, Pete Rose was in New York and stopped by “The Opie and Anthony Show” and, believe it or not…it didn’t take long to get into the Hall of Fame chatter.

“Where you at with the Hall of Fame these days?” Rose was asked nearly right out the gate.

“It’s in Cooperstown.  I don’t worry about that…I screwed that up,” the Hit King responded.  “I’ve only got 22 (Major League) records, why would I be there?”

Naturally, the brief Hall of Fame discussion led to talk of gambling.

“It’s legal everywhere except where I did it   “I’ve been suspended 25 years.  Last time I checked, the guy who shot the pope got a second chance.”

Baseball’s all-time hit king held his own ground against show regulars Rich Vos and Jim Norton and another guest, comedian Ricky Gervais (who Rose referred to as “funny man”)…dishing out as much (if not more) than any of them could throw his way.  The interview touched on a number of subjects.  Most notably, Rose’s thoughts on whether or not he should fake his own death in an effort to be enshrined, a hilarious story about Willie Mays being peed on (available below at the 5:55 mark) and that time he, for some reason, gave New York Yankees’ icon Joe DiMaggio a shower.

“The best way to describe Joe DiMaggio was a penis with a man hanging from it,” Rose said.  “I don’t know if I felt sorry for Marilyn (Monroe) or envied her.”

If you can stomach 40 minutes of Vos, Norton and Gervais’ maniacal laughter…here’s the entire interview.  If not, check out the video below.  Either way, you’ll be satisfied.
