No relation to the other “famous” Ohio Thome, Pete Thome is looking to make just as big of an impact. He will have to do it as a netminder though. In the sixth round with the 155th pick, Thome was selected coming out of the NAHL. He is committed to play for the North Dakota Fighting Hawks in 2017-18 and will be playing for the USHL team, the Omaha Lancers before he takes the next step.
There are very few reports on the young goaltender. This one we came across was from McKeen’s Hockey back in 2013:
Peter Thome is a 6-2 prospect playing for Benilde St. Margaret, one of the top high schools in Minnesota. His raw skating skills and aggressive, competitive style made him one of the top prospects in the camp.
Not a lot is known about Thome but a goalie guru from In Goal Magazine had this to say about him:
Peter Thome goes to #CBJ at #155! Has an ideal frame, and earned this selection through hard work. Will play with Omaha USHL next year.

His developmental path will be long and arduous, if prior Jacket goalie picks are any indication, he should turn out just fine. I wouldn’t expect to see Thome in a Jackets affiliated jersey for another few years. Playing in multiple leagues over the course of a few years, you love to see the dedication he has shown by sticking with the sport. Remember everyone, patience is a virtue.
