Some asked on Twitter about Tom Brandstater unseating Curtis Painter as the backup QB. I know some fans who would like to see it. I could be wrong, but I tend to doubt it will happen. I’ve had the sense, from what Colts president Bill Polian and coach Jim Caldwell have said, that Painter is No. 2.
I liked what I saw of Brandstater in this game. He was hit a lot and didn’t have ample time to throw, yet brought the Colts back continually. His three TD passes to Brandon James are the strongest evidence yet that the team could go with him, as well as keep James, but you just don’t know for sure.
