The folks at Blue White Illustrated say that Mississippi State head coach Dan Mullen will interview with Penn State on Monday for the head coaching vacancy.
Ryan Snyder reports, via Twitter, that Phil Grosz has confirmed the interview. Grosz, if you don’t already know, is generally pretty connected with the football program so we’ll tend to believe this report for the time being.
Mullen has been the hot name of late in the Penn State coaching search. Just this week Mullen was reported to be close to signing a deal with Penn State, which ended up being refuted almost as quickly. Mullen, furious with the rumors, suggested that the news was leaked by a rival school (Ole Miss) because Mississippi State had been dominating the recruiting trail in the state of late. That may or may not be true, but it is kind of funny that he is now set to interview for the job after throwing a tirade about it in the media down south.
