Today, the Philadelphia Eagles signed cornerback Roc Carmichael from the Houston Texans practice squad to help out with the secondary issues. Carmichael was drafted in the fourth round by the Texans in 2011 and played five games last season. In those five games, he got 42 snaps on defense and 89 on special teams.
I’m not sure what Carmichael can do at this point for the Eagles but if anything it gives them more bodies in the secondary. To make room on the 53 man roster, the Eagles put cornerback Brandon Hughes on the injured reserve with a hamstring injury that happened during the Chargers game.
This is what Eagles writer Jordan Raanan for NJ.com said about the move:
Eagles tried to sign Roc weeks ago MT @McClain_on_NFL: Texans add Mike Mohamad to PS to replace CB Roc Carmichael, who was signed by Eagles

So it seems like the Eagles had Carmichael on their radar probably after the preseason was over. Carmichael is 5-foot-10, 190 pounds and was a part of the 2011 NFL Draft where the Eagles selected Jaiquwan Jarrett and Curtis Marsh.
The Eagles will be looking for production from Carmichael as he was signed from the Texans’ practice squad and has to be on the 53 man roster for three weeks.
