Philadelphia Eagles trade RB David Fluellen to the Indianapolis Colts

The Philadelphia Eagles continue to make deals to improve the roster as last night they acquired running back Kenjon Barner and today they have just traded running back David Fluellen, the undrafted free agent out of Toledo.

According to Adam Schefter, the Eagles traded Fluellen to the Indianapolis Colts for kicker Cody Parkey.

This trade works out for both teams as the Colts need running back depth as they lost Vick Ballard to injury early in training camp and for the Eagles this gives Alex Henery competition as Carey Spear hasn’t made a strong enough challenge.

Fluellen only played in the first preseason game against the Chicago Bears. In that game, he had six carries for 25 yards and one reception for 14 yards and a touchdown.

Parkey, the rookie out of Auburn, also only played in the first preseason game for Colts. Against the New York Jets, he had three kickoffs that averaged 64.3 yards and two of them were for touchbacks.

With Parkey now on the roster expect the training camp battle at kicker to get interesting as first cuts are only six days away.
