In one of the best Philadelphia Phillies moves that I agree with this off-season, Todd Zolecki reported on Monday evening that they avoided arbitration with utility infielder Kevin Frandsen.

Frandsen agreed to a one-year deal worth $900,000 which includes performance bonuses. Again, this was a great move by the Phillies. Frandsen had a good last season and was one of the best pinch hitters in the majors.

Frandsen also has a lot of flexibility in that he can play first base, second base, or third base. Every time he was in a game, he made an impact either with his glove or bat.

As a pinch hitter, Frandsen had 14 hits which is a good quality number for a pinch hitter. He also had a .250 batting average with one home run and 10 RBI. I’ll always remember last season, when Frandsen hit a walk-off home run against the New York Mets to give the Phillies a win.

He is a good player on and off the field and is a great character guy for the clubhouse.
