After a dominating victory over the San Antonio Talons last Sunday, the Philadelphia Soul are fighting for their playoff lives today against the Tampa Bay Storm.
The Soul are coming into today’s game with a 6-5 record but have a terrible record on the road 1-5. So far this season, the Soul have played the Storm twice. In Week 4, the Soul went on the road to take on Tampa Bay. In that game, the Soul would go on to lose 63-49. Then in Week 10 in Philadelphia, the Soul dominated the Storm 62-34.
But this is Week 13 and the playoffs are at stake for both teams. Last week, the Soul dominated the Talons from start to finish winning 70-46. The offense, defense, and special teams were clicking on all cylinders. The Soul were without wide receiver Ryan McDaniel last week but that did not stop the offense. Without McDaniel, Tiger Jones and Emery Sammons stepped up big time. Jones had seven receptions for 118 receiving yards to go along with four touchdowns. On the other hand, Sammons had four receptions for 106 receiving yards, and two touchdowns.
Soul quarterback Dan Raudabaugh was efficient on the day completing 14 of 17 passes for 224 yards, five touchdowns, and an interception. The Soul’s defense was clicking on all cylinders as well forcing the Talons into four turnovers (two fumbles and two interceptions). They will need this kind of play when going against Tampa Bay today.
For the Storm, they were also playing well in their Week 12 game defeating the New Orleans Voodoo 62-48. In that game, quarterback Randy Hippeard threw for 212 yards and five touchdowns. On the receiving end of Hippeard’s touchdown passes was Joe Hills, who had nine receptions for 118 receiving yards and four touchdowns. Hills combined with Amarri Jackson is a complete one-two punch for the Storm.
This should be a great game as both teams are fighting for their playoff lives. The game can be seen on ESPN3 at 5:00 pm ET.
