This afternoon, Cole Hamels and the Phillies will look to avoid getting swept by the Dodgers.
Pitching for the Phillies today will be Cole Hamels (5-13, 3.65 ERA). He has been pitching really well lately, and he does have good career numbers against the Dodgers. He is 3-1 with an ERA of 1.64 against them in his career. That’s great. He does have good numbers against them and has been pitching well lately, but this Dodgers offense is going to be hard to stop. They have so many great hitters, including Yasiel Puig, Hanley Ramirez, Adrian Gonzalez, and Carl Crawford. I am expecting an okay start from Cole today, I will predict 6 innings pitched and 3 earned runs given up. Not a great start, but not a bad start, good enough to give the Phillies a chance to win.
Pitching for the Dodgers today will be Ricky Nolasco (4-1, 2.97 ERA). Nolasco used to play for the Marlins, so he has pitched against the Phillies a lot in his career. Overall, he has thrown 121.1 innings against them, that is a lot of innings against the same team. He has quality numbers against the Phillies, going 8-6 with an ERA of 3.78. That’s pretty good. I think he will have a good start against the Iron Pigs, I mean the Phillies today. I am predicting 7 innings, 2 earned runs for Nolasco this afternoon.
The Dodgers have won the first two games of this series, so if they win today then they will complete the sweep against the Phillies. The Dodgers are 42-8 in their last 50 games, so I am fully expecting the Dodgers to win. With Cole Hamels on the mound for the Phillies though, I think they have a chance.
